Following the findings and recommendations from a number of external reviews of hospital services (including the HIQA Targeted Assurance Review), the Saolta University Health Care Group and Letterkenny University Hospital commenced a project to enhance the delivery and governance of services within Letterkenny University Hospital, as part of the Saolta University Health Care Group.
Visiting by appointment has been re-introduced at Letterkenny University Hospital, patients may have one visit per day lasting up to 30 minutes.
To make an appointment to visit a patient in a ward area, family members / visitors are asked to contact the ward or unit in advance (before 3pm). Appointments will be staggered across all ward areas each day at 6.30pm, 7.15pm and 8pm.
Visiting restrictions remain in place at Letterkenny University Hospital as the site continues to be severely impacted by COVID-19.
The hospital is seeing a significant increase in COVID-19 positive admissions and attendances, while also dealing with high volumes of non-Covid patients. There are 84 patients with COVID-19 being treated in the hospital today. Currently there are 11 wards affected by COVID-19 outbreaks.
Letterkenny University Hospital would like to apologise for the significant delays being experienced by patients who are waiting to be admitted to a bed on a ward.
The hospital continues to be impacted by COVID-19. As of 8pm last night there were 25 patients with COVID-19 being treated in hospital and four wards are closed due to outbreaks.
The following walk-in clinics are taking place in Letterkenny Vaccination Centre this week for anyone aged 40 and over who is eligible for a booster vaccine. There is no appointment needed.
