Management at Roscommon University Hospital is advising that visiting restrictions are in place at the hospital due to the presence of influenza cases.
The hospital is seeking the cooperation of the general public in preventing the spread of flu by adhering to the following guidelines:
• Visitors are asked not to visit the hospital unless it is absolutely essential and only at designated visiting time 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm
Visiting restrictions remain in place at Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar due to a number of patients displaying symptoms of diarrhoea and vomiting caused by Norovirus, commonly known as the winter vomiting bug. The HSE was informed of two unrelated cases of Zika virus infection in two adults who are currently well and fully recovered. Both individuals have a history of travel to a Zika affected country. These are the first cases of Zika virus infection confirmed in Ireland. Neither case is at risk of pregnancy.

A new €1.4m day care centre for patients with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) was officially opened by An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny TD, today, Friday 15th January at Mayo University Hospital.
