Audrey Dalton Gleeson has been appointed as the first Registered Advanced Nurse Practitioner (RANP) in Acute Medicine at the Medical Assessment Unit, Roscommon University Hospital. RANPs are the highest level of clinical experts in the nursing profession in Ireland today.
The Plastic Surgery Department at Roscommon University Hospital has been using a ‘photo triage’ process to identify patients who require an urgent consultation, to replace face-to-face consultations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Deidre Jones, Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon said, “When our ‘See and Treat’ skin cancer clinics were suspended due to COVID-19, we set up a new pathway to identify patients who required urgent consultation.
Last week, following completion of an in-depth accreditation checklist and site assessment earlier this year, the Endoscopy Department at Roscommon University Hospital was successfully awarded accreditation through the UK-based accreditation programme for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy known as the Joint Advisory Group or JAG. The JAG accreditation is regarded as one of the most innovative in the healthcare sector and focuses on a model of care which is patient-centred and work force based.

Roscommon University Hospital in association with the hospital’s Patient Council and Patient Experience Committee have officially unveiled two new designated parking spaces for older people at the hospital.
The car parking spaces are located at the main entrance and will enable older people to park closer to the hospital and allow more convenient access with greater ease.
