Galway University Hospitals Arts Trust exhibitions for Galway Arts Festival

Galway University Hospitals Arts Trust presents two exhibitions this year for Galway Arts Festival.  ‘On Paper’ an exhibition by Kathleen Furey and ‘The Night Scene Series’ by Levi Hanes open at University Hospital Galway on Thursday, 18 July at 5.00pm.  The exhibitions are part of the Galway Arts Festival programme and will take place in the Foyer, Arts Corridor and First Floor of UHG.
 

Three new Board Members for the Hospital Group for the West/North West

Three new non-Executive Directors of the Board of the Hospital Group for the West/North West have been approved by the Minister for Health, Dr James Reilly. Update on the Galway and Roscommon University Hospitals Group at the Regional Health Forum

 
Bill Maher, CEO of the Galway and Roscommon University Hospitals Group and Tony Canavan, Chief Operating Officer attended the Regional Health Forum Area West meeting in Galway today. Tony Canavan read a statement* with an update following the publication of the HSE National Incident Management Team report on 13 June.

First Public Meeting of the Board of the Galway and Roscommon University Hospitals Group

The first public meeting of the Board of the Galway and Roscommon University Hospitals Group* took place in University Hospital Galway, today Tuesday 18 June. This was the fifth meeting of the Board since the non-Executive Directors were appointed in January this year.
 

Launch of “This Never Happened II” collection of poetry and stories at Merlin Park University Hospital

The second collection of creative writing by patients in Units 5 and 6, Merlin Park University Hospital was launched on Tuesday 11 June by Poet Kevin Higgins. The book called “This Never Happened II” is a collection of poetry and stories by patients, staff and visitors to Galway University Hospitals.

Firstly, on behalf of University Hospital Galway, I would like to sincerely apologise to Mr Praveen Halappanavar and family for the events related to his wife’s care that contributed to her tragic death.
 
University Hospital Galway is committed to operating to the highest standards.
 
We can reassure all concerned that we have already implemented changes to avoid the repeat of such an event.

The Children's Remembrance Day Committee, University Hospital Galway is inviting parents and their families who have experienced the death of a child before birth, shortly after birth or at a later stage to remember their loved ones in a special Mass of Remembrance, which will take place on Sunday 09 June at 2.30pm in St Oliver Plunkett Church in Renmore, Galway.

Bill Maher, CEO of the Galway and Roscommon University Hospitals Group and Tony Canavan, Chief Operating Officer attended the Regional Health Forum Area West meeting in Galway today and provided an update on developments in the Hospital Group including details of the newly expanded Hospital Group*.
 
In addition, Tony Canavan read a statement** with an update on the three investigations which followed the tragic maternal death case at UHG last year.
