Walk-in COVID-19 vaccination clinics 13 – 19 September

Walk-in COVID-19 vaccination clinics continue this week at centres across the West and North West. Anyone aged 12 upwards who needs a vaccine is invited to come to a walk-in clinic for their vaccine. Bring photo ID and your vaccine record card. Parental consent is required for all children's appointments.

Emergency Department at University Hospital Galway extremely busy

University Hospital Galway is extremely busy today with a significant number of patients presenting to the Emergency Department (ED), many of whom remain in the ED awaiting a bed.

There is ongoing pressure on bed availability in the hospital and we regret that patients are currently experiencing long waiting times to be admitted from the ED to an acute bed in the hospital.

COVID-19 vaccines to be administered from the new Vaccination Centre in Burtonport, Donegal

A new COVID-19 vaccination satellite centre in Burtonport, Donegal is opening on Thursday 09 September to serve the communities in West Donegal. The centre is located in St Columba’s Community Centre.

Walk-in Vaccination Clinics in Galway, Mayo, Roscommon, Sligo and Donegal this week

Anyone aged 12 and older who hasn’t yet received their first dose vaccine, can go to a walk-in vaccination clinic this week and get their vaccine.

Also, people who are waiting for their second dose Pfizer vaccine may also attend one of the walk-in clinics, once the interval between doses has been reached.

Second dose Moderna clinics are taking place in Belmullet (Tue from 5pm to 7pm) and Ballybrit (8.30am to 12.30pm)

Visiting Restrictions in place at Sligo University Hospital for the next week

As a result of an outbreak of COVID-19 at Sligo University Hospital, which is impacting a number of wards, visiting restrictions have been introduced at the hospital.

From Thursday 02 September to Wednesday 08 September there will be no visiting allowed to the hospital apart from the maternity department where partners can visit and the paediatric department where parents or guardians may visit.

500,000 COVID-19 vaccine milestone reached in West/North West

The vaccination centres in the West and North West have hit the milestone of delivering 500,000 vaccines since the first vaccination centre opened at the end of February.

University Hospital Galway is looking for service user advocate(s) for the maternity department to work with hospital and community health service directors and managers to initiate change and build better maternity services for women and their families accessing care.

First COVID-19 vaccines to be administered from the Vaccination Centre in the Belmullet Civic Centre

A new COVID-19 vaccination satellite centre in Belmullet is opening this week to serve the communities in North Mayo. The centre is located Belmullet Civic Offices on Church Road.

There will be two walk-in vaccination clinics taking place at the new vaccination centre this week:

  • Tuesday 31 August: 1pm to 7pm. Dose Pfizer dose 1 for age 12 or older.

Pfizer dose 2 for anyone who received their first dose before 11 August.
