Easing of Visiting Restrictions for Partners attending Maternity Department at University Hospital Galway

As part of the hospitals’ response to COVID-19, visitor restrictions were introduced to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and protect all mothers, babies and healthcare staff.

These restrictions are under continual review and each maternity unit carries out regular risk assessments around visiting restrictions taking into account community transmission rates, local infrastructure within the unit and staffing.

Sligo University Hospital introduces Mindfulness at Work programme for staff

Sligo University Hospital has introduced a ‘Mindfulness at Work’ programme which involves training staff volunteers to become Mindfulness Champions who in turn pass on their learning to support their colleagues to bring balance and reduce stress at this difficult time.

A bird at my window and other stories transform hospital bedsides of young patients at University Hospital Galway into miniature theatre spaces

As part of and Arts and Health project for Galway 2020, artists Sarah Fuller and Manuela Corbari responded to the ever-changing challenges presented by COVID-19 and the needs of the paediatric setting by designing a bespoke shadowbox theatre which is being shared with children in paediatric units in the Saolta Group including University Hospital Galway (UHG) along with Mayo University Hospital, Portiuncula University Hospital, Sligo University Hospital and Letterkenny University Hospital.

Roscommon COVID-19 vaccination programme now up and running at the Abbey Hotel

The COVID 19 vaccination programme across County Roscommon has now moved to the newly established Vaccination Centre located in the Abbey Hotel, Roscommon. On 06 January a programme of vaccination of frontline healthcare workers commenced at Roscommon University Hospital, with the vaccine offered to healthcare workers across the hospital, community and other healthcare workers in the county.

Mayo COVID-19 vaccination programme now up and running at Breaffy House Resort, Castlebar

The COVID-19 vaccination programme for County Mayo has now moved to the newly established Vaccination Centre in Breaffy House, Castlebar. Over the coming weeks the programme to vaccinate health care workers across hospital, community and other health care workers continues in the new facility and vaccination teams will prepare for the site to be used as a Vaccination Centre for the wider public.
