Purpose of the Post:

• The post holder will work with the ICT Manager with a focus on Applications Management within Portiuncula University Hospital.
• The post holder will be required to support National initiatives as directed by the Office of the Chief Information Officer, and work with agreed national ICT policies and guidelines.
• The ICT Department in Portiuncula University Hospital supports all staff in their need to deliver efficiencies and improvements in productivity by the availability and use of Technology.
• Local, regional and national systems are in use in the hospital, and the post holder will support or liaise with external suppliers to support all such systems.
• We work with our colleagues in ICT departments across the HSE West and North West to achieve the following strategic aims: 
• Provide Managers and Clinicians with the information they need, when and where it is required.
• Implement systems that have been identified as priority by the Group ICT Steering Committee.
• Meet national reporting requirements of Special Delivery Unit, Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) and National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP); 
• Put systems in place that promote ease of data capture 
• Ensure that all data is captured once and used many times
• Ensure systems are secure and promote and meet Data Protection obligations
• The post holder will support the principle that care of the patient always comes first and will approach their work with the flexibility and enthusiasm necessary to make this principle a reality for every patient to the greatest possible degree
• Maintain throughout the Group’s awareness of the primacy of the patient in relation to all hospital activities.
• Performance management systems are part of the role, and you will be required to participate in the Group’s performance management programme.
