In a change of date, University Hospital Galway’s Grand Rounds will take place tomorrow, Thursday 31 October at 1pm in the Clinical Science Institute (Large Lecture Theatre).

The Grand Rounds lecture entitled ‘The Future of Medicine’ will be delivered by Prof John Rogers, Northwestern University, USA.

Prof John Rogers is the 2019 Benjamin Franklin Medal recipient, a McArthur Genius Grant awardee, a Lemelson-MIT prizewinner and a pioneer of wearable sensors. Examples of his work can be seen at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyp3cz7iA1Q

Prof Derek O’Keeffe, Consultant Physician UHG, who is organising the lecture said, “The research by Prof Rogers will change the world and be routine in our lives by 2030. The wearable technologies of today will become bio-integrated labs with skin-like properties to capture and analyse the chemistry of sweat with wireless connectivity to allow non-intrusive screening.”
