Additional Winter Funding for Health Services for the Saolta Group and Community Healthcare Area 1

The HSE has this week published the National Winter Plan 2019-20 providing for funding of €26m nationally to support the HSE to manage the known increase in demand the health service will face over the winter months. Of this, €6.8m has been allocated to hospital and community services across the country to allow for specific local initiatives to improve patient care.

Mrs Sabina Higgins officially launched Saolta Arts and Offset an intergenerational printmaking exhibition at UHG

Mrs Sabina Higgins has this week officially launched Saolta Arts, the new name for Galway University Hospitals Arts Trust.  Mrs Higgins also formally launched Offset, a new exhibition in University Hospital Galway.

The original arts programme was established in Galway University Hospitals (University Hospital Galway and Merlin Park University Hospital) in 2003 to provide art events and activities for the hospital community.

Hospitals in the Saolta Group are continuing to put contingency plans in place in advance of tomorrow’s industrial action.

Launch of the HSE Health Passport and Mission Possible short film

On Tuesday 18 June, the launch of the HSE Health Passport took place at Century Cinemas in Letterkenny, Co Donegal.

The launch was marked by the viewing of a high-end cinematic short film on the HSE Health Passport made to support the roll-out of an awareness campaign entitled "Mission Possible".

Saolta Arts invites expressions of interest from suitably qualified members of the public to serve as members of the Board

Saolta Arts is the new name for the Hospitals Arts Trust which has been extended to include Galway University Hospitals and the other hospitals in the Saolta Group - Roscommon University Hospital, Portiuncula University Hospital, Mayo University Hospital, Sligo University Hospital and Letterkenny University Hospital.

Patients and Staff in Irish hospitals to receive a ‘Menu of Poems’ for Poetry Day Ireland

To celebrate Poetry Day Ireland on Thursday 02 May 2019, a ‘Menu of Poems’ will be distributed throughout Irish hospital wards, waiting rooms and other healthcare settings for patients, visitors and staff to enjoy. The poetry was selected by Dublin poet Ailbhe Darcy.

Saolta University Health Care Group publishes Group Strategy 2019-2023

The Saolta University Health Care Group has this week published its five year strategy which outlines the vision and framework for the Group’s strategic development from 2019 to 2023. The Saolta Group comprises Galway University Hospitals (University Hospital Galway and Merlin Park University Hospital), Letterkenny University Hospital, Sligo University Hospital, Mayo University Hospital, Portiuncula University Hospital and Roscommon University Hospital.
