In this month’s issue, we feature Roscommon University Hospital and highlight some of the recent projects and developments taking place there. Former President Mary McAleese recently visited the hospital to open a new family room and you can read all about her visit in this edition. It’s flu vaccine time of the year and this edition features the different initiatives that are underway across the group to encourage staff to get the flu vaccine.
Due to the weather warnings issued by Met Eireann directly related to storm Ophelia, the Saolta University Health Care Group is cancelling all outpatient appointments in University Hospital Galway, Merlin Park University Hospital, Portiuncula University Hospital and Mayo University Hospital on Monday 16th October.
Patients are advised not to travel to the hospitals unless absolutely necessary. The Emergency Departments remain open 24/7.
To celebrate Poetry Day Ireland on Thursday 27 April 2017, a Menu of Poems called ‘You. Just You’ will be distributed throughout Irish hospital wards, waiting rooms and other healthcare settings for patients, visitors and staff to enjoy. The poetry was selected by poet Yrsa Daley-Ward. Daley-Ward will be visiting Ireland for the Cúirt International Festival of Literature, to read at an event and to launch the Poems for Patience Series at University Hospital Galway.
The conference, which this year is an open event for all healthcare professionals will be held in the Citywest Hotel & Golf Resort, Saggart, Co Dublin on the 23rd May 2017. Our annual national conference this year is based around the theme of “New challenges in 2017: the multi-drug resistance crisis” and focuses upon raising awareness and reducing adverse outcomes from emerging multi-drug resistance organisms.
On 22nd February a workshop was hosted by Community Healthcare Organisation Area 1 (Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Monaghan & Sligo) in conjunction with the National Clinical Care Programme for Diabetes.
