Deferrals at all hospitals in the Saolta Group

The hospitals in the Saolta University Health Care Group* are deferring all but very urgent inpatient, day surgery, diagnostics tests and outpatient appointments from today, Monday March 16th until further notice. This is to ensure that the hospital has the necessary capacity to deal with any increase in suspected and confirmed COVID 19 cases.

Visiting Restrictions in Place at Hospitals in the Saolta Group

All hospitals in the Saolta Group are implementing visiting restrictions from this evening, Friday March 6th. The restrictions will continue into next week and will be kept under review.

These restrictions are being put in place as an infection control measure and will apply to:

The Saolta University Health Care Group today published the outcome of the options appraisal process undertaken to identify the most appropriate way to proceed with the future development of hospital services in Galway to enable the delivery of the best possible outcomes for patients across the West and North West of Ireland.

Additional Winter Funding for Health Services for the Saolta Group and Community Healthcare Area 1

The HSE has this week published the National Winter Plan 2019-20 providing for funding of €26m nationally to support the HSE to manage the known increase in demand the health service will face over the winter months. Of this, €6.8m has been allocated to hospital and community services across the country to allow for specific local initiatives to improve patient care.

Mrs Sabina Higgins officially launched Saolta Arts and Offset an intergenerational printmaking exhibition at UHG

Mrs Sabina Higgins has this week officially launched Saolta Arts, the new name for Galway University Hospitals Arts Trust.  Mrs Higgins also formally launched Offset, a new exhibition in University Hospital Galway.

The original arts programme was established in Galway University Hospitals (University Hospital Galway and Merlin Park University Hospital) in 2003 to provide art events and activities for the hospital community.
