Last October Saolta University Health Care Group and Community Healthcare West together with the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences NUI Galway partnered with UNICEF as part of a promotional flu campaign for staff ‘Get a vaccine, give a vaccine’ which meant that for every flu vaccine given to a staff member, 10 polio vaccines were donated to UNICEF.
In this month’s issue, we feature Roscommon University Hospital and highlight some of the recent projects and developments taking place there. Former President Mary McAleese recently visited the hospital to open a new family room and you can read all about her visit in this edition. It’s flu vaccine time of the year and this edition features the different initiatives that are underway across the group to encourage staff to get the flu vaccine.
Due to the weather warnings issued by Met Eireann directly related to storm Ophelia, the Saolta University Health Care Group is cancelling all outpatient appointments in University Hospital Galway, Merlin Park University Hospital, Portiuncula University Hospital and Mayo University Hospital on Monday 16th October.
Patients are advised not to travel to the hospitals unless absolutely necessary. The Emergency Departments remain open 24/7.
