Inflammatory Bowel Disease Information Evening for Patients in Donegal

Staff from the Gastroenterology Department at Letterkenny University Hospital are organising a free information evening for patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease, their families and carers, on Thursday 20 October from 7pm to 8pm in the Radisson Hotel, Letterkenny.

Cathy Walsh, Advanced Nurse Practitioner said, “There are approximately 60,000 people diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease in Ireland and around 2,000 of these patients live in County Donegal.

“The information evening is an opportunity for patients in Donegal with Inflammatory Bowel Disease to learn more about their disease, treatments and get advice on living with the disease. On the evening I will be joined by colleagues Dr Vikrant Parihar, Consultant Gastroenterologist and Pharmacist Lisa Harney.

“We want the evening to be informal and relaxed, away from the stresses that may be associated with a hospital appointment. Patients can drop in at any time and bring a friend, family member or carer for company and to also learn more about the disease.

“The information evening is free to attend. I look forward to meeting many of our patients at the Radisson Hotel on Thursday from 7pm to 8pm.”
