An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny TD officially opened the new Paediatric Cystic Fibrosis Unit at University Hospital Galway today, Monday 28 July.
The new unit is a dedicated specialist facility for day care and outpatient services for children with cystic fibrosis where they can be treated in an optimal physical environment to reduce the risk of infection, which can have a serious impact for patients with CF.
Mayo General Hospital (MGH) is hosting a Patient Safety and Quality Symposium on Thursday 31 July in the GMIT Castlebar Campus.
The symposium will highlight practices and initiatives aimed at improving patient safety and achieving high quality care for patients. At an extraordinary meeting of the board of the West / North West Hospitals Group on Monday June 16th, board member Dr John Killeen agreed to take on the voluntary role of interim chair pending the imminent appointment of a new chairperson by the Minister for Health.
Dr Killeen joined the board in January 2013. He is an engineer by profession and a native of County Roscommon who became an Honorary Freeman of Galway City in 2012.
