Due to the success of the Sunday Phlebotomy Clinic at University Hospital Galway (UHG), the clinic has extended its operating hours to 10:00am – 12:30pm to further support the delivery of Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT).

At a ceremony in the hospital today, (Friday 12th December 2025) Aoife Kilcullen, Holly Dolan and Sinju Paddayatty Joyappan were chosen to receive a “DAISY Award” after being nominated by co-workers and patients.

HSE is urging the public in Galway to help control the spread of flu

Health services in county Galway are under significant pressure with increasing rates of flu in the community. Today, we are treating 60 patients with flu across Galway University Hospitals and Portiuncula University Hospital with a particularly high number of older people and children attending the ED with symptoms. 363 people in Galway were confirmed on laboratory testing with flu since the start of this flu season, including 175 last week.
