A group of health and social care professionals at Galway University Hospitals (GUH) will be holding a virtual Career’s Evening for secondary school students on Wednesday 23 October from 6pm. Twelve People living with lifelong diabetes honoured at special awards ceremony

On Wednesday, 02 October at a special awards ceremony in Croí, Diabetes Ireland honoured twelve people living with type 1 diabetes with special 50 and 65-year achievement medals in recognition of their courage and endurance in living with diabetes.

Donation to Acute Stroke Unit, University Hospital Galway

Mina McNamara, whose husband Paul passed away suddenly from a brain aneurysm on 07 July 2022, has generously donated €7,788 to the Acute Stroke Unit at University Hospital Galway (UHG) in memory of her late husband Paul, a native of the Claddagh in Galway City.

The 8km Paul McNamara Memorial Walk Fundraiser, now in its second year, took place last July with all proceeds going to NLN Quest Brain Injury Services and the Acute Stroke Unit, UHG.

A study carried out by doctors at University Hospital Galway (UHG) has revealed the changing presentation of trauma patients, with a doubling of cases and older patient profile emerging over the course of a decade.

Based on critical care data from UHG, the study looked at the characteristics of trauma patients, the nature of their injuries and trends in mortality rates over a 10 year period.
