The Children’s Remembrance Day Committee at University Hospital Galway (UHG) has launched its annual ‘Sponsor a Christmas Tree Light’ 2024. The sale of the lights was officially launched by Santa Claus.
A light can be sponsored on the Christmas tree at University Hospital Galway in memory of the deceased or as a gift to a loved one. These lights give families an opportunity to remember their loved ones in a special way over the festive season.

Mina McNamara, whose husband Paul passed away suddenly from a brain aneurysm on 07 July 2022, has generously donated €7,788 to the Acute Stroke Unit at University Hospital Galway (UHG) in memory of her late husband Paul, a native of the Claddagh in Galway City.
The 8km Paul McNamara Memorial Walk Fundraiser, now in its second year, took place last July with all proceeds going to NLN Quest Brain Injury Services and the Acute Stroke Unit, UHG.

The service aims to provide a space to support families in the grief they are experiencing, in a respectful and empathetic way.
