The MSc Diagnostic Radiography course at UCC offers an accelerated route for graduates from any health science or science related discipline to gain a recognised qualification in Diagnostic Radiography.

Invitation to International Women’s Day healthcare conference hosted by Sligo University Hospital

Sligo University Hospital extends an invitation to women of all ages to a free public conference to celebrate International Women’s Day.

The conference takes place on Friday 8th March, 2024 in the Clayton Hotel, Sligo from 8.30am to 4.30pm.

Brídín Bell (Advanced Nurse Practitioner) and Ms Juliana Henry (Director of Midwifery in the Women and Children’s Service SUH) are hosting the conference along with the Centre of Nursing and Midwifery Sligo.

Roscommon Injury Unit supports TY students with Junk Kouture Project

Congratulations to TY students Aoife Canavan and Myah Gallagher from High Cross College, Tuam, who qualified for the Junk Kouture Regional Finals with their project ‘Magenta Monarchy’.

The design was created entirely from recycled materials, with the bodice constructed from Plaster of Paris generously donated by Roscommon Injury Unit.

Major enhancements to women’s health services in SUH launched by Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly, TD

Sligo University Hospital (SUH) is delighted to welcome Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly, TD to formally launch two significant enhancements in gynaecology and maternity services at the hospital.

Today, Friday 23 February, Minister Donnelly has cut the ribbon on a new Ambulatory Gynaecology clinic in Sligo University Hospital.

Roscommon Palliative Care Unit Marks First Anniversary

Roscommon Palliative Care Unit is officially open one year on Tuesday February 13th. This day last year saw the first patients enter the Unit, which was launched by Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly TD.

Since opening, a large number of patients have been cared for at the eight-bed inpatient Unit that was built on a site purchased by Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation.

New medical pathway for home dialysis introduced at Merlin Park University Hospital

Merlin Park University Hospital has introduced a new pathway offering some dialysis patients an alternative to surgery for the insertion of catheters.

The new option will reduce waiting times and allow more people to avail of treatment at home following the implanting of peritoneal dialysis catheters.

Due to an outbreak of COVID-19, access for visitors to St Coman’s Ward and St Teresa’s Ward at Roscommon University Hospital is currently limited to compassionate grounds only.

Visits must be pre-arranged in advance by contacting the relevant ward:

Long wait times at the Emergency Department in Portiuncula University Hospital

The Emergency Department (ED) at Portiuncula University Hospital (PUH) is extremely busy today and the hospital is advising that patients who attend ED for routine and non-urgent treatment will experience very long waiting times.
