University Hospital Galway lights up for Christmas

Irish writer, actor, playwright and broadcaster Joe Steve Ó Neachtain also well known for his portrayal of Peadar Ó Conghaile in the long-running soap Ros na Rún officially switched on the Christmas lights at University Hospital Galway last Sunday, 11 December.

The Conquerors kicked of the afternoon’s festivities and the boys and girls from Scoil Cathríona Renmore performed Christmas Carols.

Susan Massey from the Children’s Remembrance Day Committee said, “we were delighted with the turn out for the switching on of the Christmas Tree lights at UHG.  Every year we launch our ‘sponsor a Christmas Tree light,’ this gives many families who have suffered a bereavement during the year the opportunity to sponsor a light for someone who has passed away; it’s a way of letting family and friends know that you are thinking of them and to those families who may have loved ones who have emigrated and will not be home for Christmas, by sponsoring a light, lets them know they are in our thoughts."
