There is currently one permanent, whole-time vacancy available in Renal Home Therapies, MPUH.

The Renal Service at GUH is an expanding regional service which is responding to a well-documented increase in the number of patients with renal failure nationally.  The service provides renal care to a large cohort of inpatients throughout the hospital and is a regional referral centre for Nephrology. The Renal Service at GUH is committed to the development and on-going delivery of the National Renal Office objectives.

The Renal multidisciplinary team works collaboratively to provide this service and there is consultation at all levels.  The team members are: Consultant Nephrologists, medical staff, Advanced nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Clinical Nurse Managers, Staff Nurses and Renal Dietician & Health Care Assistants.

The Haemodialysis Unit currently comprises of 22 dialysis stations in MPUH with the acute Dialysis service provided in UHG with 3 dialysis stations in unit and the facility to outreach to ICU and dedicated ward areas in UHG.

The Renal Home Therapies dept. provides a home Haemodialysis service alongside delivering a peritoneal dialysis service. The Renal Home Therapies service in GUH covers Galway, Mayo and Roscommon currently. GUH home therapies also provides a service to patients from Westmeath, Clare, Offaly and Cavan due to GUH being the nearest Renal Home Therapies unit.

It is the only home dialysis centre for the West and North West (Saolta group) currently.  The growth of the service to cover all hospitals within Saolta group to incorporate Sligo, Leitrim and Letterkenny is currently in progress. GUH home therapies will be the main Hub providing training and education of patients. The case to increase access to home dialysis is aligned with the Saolta Group Strategy of ensuring our growing aging population can get the right care in the right place at the right time.

A panel may be formed as a result of this campaign for Clinical Nurse Manager II, Renal Home Therapies from which current and future, permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration may be filled.
