This initial vacancy is a temporary specified purpose, Clinical Skills Facilitator Paediatric Services
(covering all areas where children are cared for within the hospital.
The successful candidate may be required to work in any service area within the vicinity as the need
arises. A panel may be formed for Portiuncula University Hospital from which current and future
permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part time duration may be filled.
Purpose of the Post:
• The primary purpose of the post of the Clinical Skills Facilitator is to provide clinical support, education, and instruction to Staff Nurses in developing skills and competencies in order to fulfil their roles and responsibilities in the provision of care to children and their families. This training will include all aspects of paediatric nursing i.e. Pews, paediatric resuscitation.
• To provide professional paediatric nursing skills in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care for assigned patients while providing exceptional patient care in an environment where quality, respect, caring, and compassion are at the centre of all we do.
• To work as part of the NPDU team developing children’s nursing practice within the hospital, and will have responsibility as project lead on specific initiatives.
• A key element of this post is the clinical credibility of the post holder. It is envisaged that the post holder will be acknowledged as an excellent resource to professionals within the hospital.
• The person will work and teach in all areas where children are present. The successful candidate will be assigned to lead on the provision of paediatric care in the inpatient ward and in the paediatric zone of the ED.
• The successful candidate will work with the NPD team to develop and continue to coordinate education sessions, study days, and facilitate mandatory training for all staff who care for children.To apply:
