Galway University Hospitals to hold Interfaith Memorial Service

Galway University Hospitals (GUH) End of Life Care Committee will hold their 17th Interfaith Memorial Service for all deceased patients, on Thursday 17th September at 7pm, in the Clayton Hotel, Ballybrit, Galway.

The service aims to provide a space to support families in the grief they are experiencing, in a respectful and empathetic way.

Sharon Fahy, Co-Chair of GUH End of Life Care Committee said, “The theme for this years’ service is “Memories” as we come together remembering our patients and honouring their memory. While we are specifically inviting the families who were bereaved between January and December 2025, we welcome all those who have experienced the loss of someone to attend. The service is a very special event for our hospital staff as we remember our deceased patients and renew acquaintance with their families together with acknowledging the grief of their loss. We invite you to join us for our service of readings, reflections and music/song.”

Galway University Hospitals care for patients from a wide geographical area and acknowledges the loss experienced by families and friends following the death of a loved one. May those who have been bereaved take some solace from knowing that their loved one has not been forgotten.
