After 100 days of COVID-19 testing in the Laboratory at Letterkenny University Hospital, almost 6,200 samples have been tested with results currently reported within 24 hours of receipt. The laboratory is carrying out testing on swabs taken from patients in the hospital, HSE staff (hospital and community based staff) as well as testing samples taken from members of the public referred to community testing hubs by their GPs in County Donegal.

Management at Letterkenny University Hospital is reminding the public that strict visiting restrictions remain in place across the hospital in an effort to protect vulnerable patients and health care staff. Across the hospital visiting is only allowed in end of life circumstances and following discussion with the nursing manger on duty.
In the maternity department, patients are not allowed visitors other than in the following circumstances:
Due to ongoing cases of flu, Letterkenny University Hospital is asking for the public’s assistance to prevent the spread of infection from the flu and to minimise the chances of it being brought into the hospital.
The hospital would like to remind members of the public that visiting is not permitted at this time.
