GUH Arts Trust Winter Raffle to raise funds for arts programme

This November sees the beginning of the inaugural Galway University Hospitals Arts Trust Winter Raffle to raise funds for the work of the organisation. The draw will run over a period of 4 consecutive weeks beginning with week 1 on Friday November 16, week 2 on Friday November 23, week 3 on Friday November 30th and the Grand Finale on Friday December 7. Each draw will be held in the main foyer of University Hospital Galway on the above dates at 1pm lunchtime.

Participating artists, friends, family and hospital staff all gathered to celebrate their achievements as a community within a healthcare setting.

Galway University Hospitals Arts Trust is celebrating three years of its dialysis art programme at Merlin Park University Hospital in a special partnership with NUI Galway for Galway International Arts Festival 2016. Since it was introduced in 2012, a prevalent source of inspiration for participants’ creative projects has been the West of Ireland and the exhibition takes this theme across two venues.

Aindrias de Staic, actor, musician and Irish storyteller performing in Unit 4 Merlin Park University Hospital as part of the Bealtaine Festival. May belongs to the Bealtaine festival, celebrating creativity as we age! Over 120,000 people now take part in Bealtaine. From dance to cinema, painting to theatre, Bealtaine showcases the talents and creativity of both first-time and professional older artists. The Bealtaine festival will be celebrated in Healthcare settings for the month of May.

The Bealtaine Festival celebrates its 21st birthday this year and runs nationwide throughout the month of May.  Galway University Hospitals Arts Trust has a series of events programmed for older patients in Galway University Hospitals, Units 5 and 6 in Merlin Park and Roscommon University Hospital.  A variety of arts events are scheduled including theatre shows, art workshops and music performances.
