University Hospital Galway seeks the co-operation of the public to prevent spread of Norovirus

University Hospital Galway is asking people to comply with visitor restrictions on St Anthony’s ward and St Mary’s ward due to a number of suspected cases of the vomiting bug (Norovirus). In order to assist staff in curtailing the spread of this virus, it is imperative that only essential visiting takes place during this period. Children should not visit the hospital as they may be particularly susceptible to the illness.

Following the upgrade of the weather warning last night by Met Eireann to Status Red for the entire country today (Thursday March 1st), Galway University Hospitals (University Hospital Galway and Merlin Park University Hospital) and Portiuncula University Hospital have cancelled routine electives and outpatient appointments today and tomorrow (Friday 2nd).

University Hospital Galway team wins HSE Excellence Award

The team behind UHG’s ‘Serum Eye Drop’ Programme won the ‘Popular Choice Award’ at the HSE Excellence Awards, which were presented at a ceremony in Farmleigh House yesterday, Thursday 14 December.  The project also won the award for Best Team.
