Letterkenny University Hospital is an acute general and maternity hospital delivering a patient-centred, quality-driven focused service and a wide range of diagnostic and support services. LGH is a teaching hospital with links to the National University of Ireland Galway, the Royal College of Surgeons and the Letterkenny Institute of Technology. Undergraduate Nurse, Midwifery, and AHP training and clinical placements are also provided at the hospital along with post graduate Medical and Nursing education.

Patient Forum at Letterkenny University Hospital – the volunteer’s perspective

Muriel Perry, Chairperson of the Patient Forum at Letterkenny University Hospital, first joined the forum when it began ten years ago and has been an active participant ever since. Muriel, who is from Magheracorran, Convoy is one of three members of the Patient Forum who have been there since the very beginning. The others are Philomena Roarty from Manorcunningham and Madge Robson from Letterkenny.

Letterkenny University Hospital’s Text Reminder Service

Letterkenny University Hospital has introduced a text reminder service for patients who have outpatient appointments at the hospital. From this week the text reminders will be rolled out to all outpatient clinics on a phased basis.

Letterkenny University Hospital addressing sustainability issues in 2019

The Sustainability Team at Letterkenny University Hospital will be focusing on training staff, providing advice and introducing a number of initiatives to reduce the hospital’s impact on the environment in 2019.

Each month there will be a different sustainability focus at the hospital under four themes: waste prevention, water conservation, sustainable transport and energy efficiency.

Cheque Presentation to Féileacáin

Claire and Jamsie Donnelly, from Killygordon, presenting a cheque for €8,500 at Letterkenny University Hospital to Mairie Cregan, Chairperson and founding member of Féileacáin.

The money was the proceeds of a charity tractor run in memory of their baby Evanne. Also in photo are Marian Doogan, Assistant Director of Midwifery and Evelyn Smith, Director of Midwifery at Letterkenny University Hospital. The funds raised will be used in the local area.

New Bereavement Room for Parents in the Maternity Unit of Letterkenny University Hospital

Letterkenny University Hospital opened a new bereavement room in the Maternity Unit at the hospital, on Thursday 17 January. The room will be known as the Butterfly Room, taking inspiration from Féileacáin, the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Association of Ireland.
