National Ambulance Service decontamination demonstration taking place at Sligo University Hospital

The National Ambulance Service (NAS) clinical decontamination team is conducting a demonstration with Sligo University Hospital (SUH) this Thursday. NAS will set up a clinical decontamination tent at the hospital and provide a full demonstration on clinical decontamination to the staff at SUH. Clinical decontamination may be required at a hospital site for patients who self-present and haven’t been decontaminated at site of an emergency that involved potential exposure to a chemical hazard.

The demonstration will take place outside the Emergency Department entrance on Thursday 27 April from 11am to 1pm.

There will be additional ambulance vehicles, personnel and a decontamination tent on site for the purposes of the exercise. There will be no impact to services at the hospital or at the National Ambulance Service during this time and people should attend for their appointments as scheduled.
