Sligo University Hospital (SUH) has advised that it continues to operate under pressure as a result of COVID-19 and flu outbreaks at the hospital. Whilst outbreaks are impacting a number of wards throughout the hospital, two wards (Surgical Gynae and Medical 7) have restricted visitor access. As of 8am today, there are 18 COVID-19 positive patients being treated at the hospital.
The Irish Heart Foundation has awarded the Gold Happy Heart Award to the catering team Mayo University Hospital in recognition of the ongoing work at the hospital to promote healthy eating in the workplace.

Mayo University Hospital welcomes the publication of the HIQA report on the inspection of MUH which took place in August 2022.
The focus of the inspection was to monitor the National Standards for Safer Better Healthcare. HIQA’s inspection focused on key standards relating to capacity and capability under the themes of leadership, governance and management and workforce.
The inspection visited the emergency department, a medical ward and a surgical ward.

All available beds are in use. Every effort is being made to discharge patients who are ready to go home so that beds will become available for patients who need to be admitted, at the earliest opportunity.
