Three outstanding nurses/midwives from Letterkenny University Hospital (LUH) have been acknowledged for the meaningful difference they make in their patients' lives.

11th Annual Multidisciplinary Research Symposium Letterkenny University Hospital

The 11th Annual Multidisciplinary Research Symposium was held at Letterkenny University Hospital in November 2023. The event, organised by the LUH Postgraduate Medical Education Department, showcased some of the excellent research taking place within LUH and the broader community, with oral and poster presentations from staff representing a wide range of disciplines within our healthcare services as well as University of Galway medical students.

As a result of rising rates of respiratory illness in the community Letterkenny University Hospital (LUH) is asking the public to not visit patients at the hospital if they are feeling unwell.

Letterkenny University Hospital is very busy with long wait times at the Emergency Department

The Emergency Department (ED) at Letterkenny University Hospital (LUH) has been extremely busy over the past few days with high numbers of people attending. Yesterday, Thursday 07 November, 135 people attended at the Emergency Department. There are currently 80 patients in the Emergency Department with 15 patients waiting to be admitted. There are currently 15 COVID-19 positive patients being treated at LUH with two wards in outbreak.

Letterkenny University Hospital is extremely busy today

The Emergency Department (ED) at Letterkenny University Hospital (LUH) has been extremely busy over the past few days and the hospital is advising that patients who attend ED for routine and non-urgent treatment will experience very long waiting times. 181 people attended the ED yesterday, Monday 18 September, resulting in 34 patient admissions.

Moninne Bradley, from Killygordon in Co Donegal, was left fighting for her life last year as the result of the rapid spread of sepsis.

Had it not been for the quick actions of her sister, Nurse Orla Noonan, she would not have survived.
