Sligo University Hospital (SUH) is inviting parents and their families who have experienced bereavement, through the death of a baby or child or who have experienced pregnancy loss to remember their loved ones in a special Mass of Remembrance, which will take place on Wednesday, 15 November at 8pm in St Anne’s Small Chapel, Cranmore, Sligo, F91 R250.

The Emergency Department in Sligo University Hospital is extremely busy today with high numbers of patients being admitted, many of whom present with complex needs requiring admission. The hospital is advising that patients who attend ED for routine and non-urgent treatment will experience very long waiting times. There are 38 patients on trolleys awaiting admission to an inpatient bed and we apologise to those patients and their families for the upset this is causing.
The National Office of Clinical Audit (NOCA) is pleased to announce that Sligo University Hospital (SUH), which is part of the Saolta Hospital Group, has become the 18th hospital in Ireland to roll out the Irish National Orthopaedic Register (INOR). The aim of this initiative is to monitor and improve the quality of care for individuals receiving joint replacement surgery in Ireland.
On Monday 14 August, Sligo University Hospital will commence upgrade works to increase the size of the Emergency Department Waiting Room which will take approximately two weeks to complete.
The waiting room will remain open and a temporary registration desk will be in place.
There will be a certain level of disruption while the works are ongoing and the hospital would like to apologise to patients and their families for the disruption as a result of these works.
Sligo University Hospital is dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak which is affecting two wards, Medical Ward 7 and Medical Ward North. Visiting restrictions are in place in these wards.
Coming into a busy bank holiday weekend we are urging the public not to visit the hospital if you are feeling unwell. If you have symptoms like a sore throat, cough, temperature or shortness of breath please do not visit the hospital to help keep vulnerable patients safe.
Sligo University Hospital (SUH) has partnered with Sligo Leader and the Organic Centre to introduce a year-long Garden Project involving some minor gardening work throughout the hospital. This project is part of the hospital’s Green Campus Programme and will focus on increasing biodiversity on the site as well as enhancing outdoor spaces at the hospital.
